Yep! Finally a 200-year-old ban on women wearing trousers has been overturned by French Government. Not that this had stopped Parisian women wearing trousers in the past decades, mind you!

 

But apparently a legal notice imposed in November, 1800 required women to ask the permission of local police if they wanted to "dress like a man and wear trousers". The purpose of such a law? Preventing women doing certain jobs.

 

Despite being ignored by the French for decades, it still remained on the statute books. But due to incompatibility between this ban and modern French values and laws, Paris women can finally wear trousers...without breaking any laws! ;)
