Teenage (or not) passed out moments

Yesterday early morning my girlfriends and myself had a blast whilst sharing some embarrassing moments we had whilst drunk. I was mentioning how during a second date I was assuring my companion for the night how in my eyes he looked way better than his friend and in fact scored 66.66 per cent (with the remaining 33.33 per cent going to his friend - how I managed to argue my way round with 2-decimal
...This is what happens when you let a bunch of marines watch "Frozen" :D
They're all waiting for the bit at about 2:20 minute, but my favourite bit is the part at 0:45. You should watch this ;) Happy Friday, Happy weekend!! xx
You lost friends that you needed losing

Friendships are the weirdest of relationships. Some of them may be life-changing or even life-saving, others turn sour. I've had some of both, I learnt from both. You learn from the bright friends and from the negative ones who are always grumpy, you learn from those gossipy ones and also from the introverts. You manage to appreciate the insecure friends who are always questioning their qualities and also those other diva ones who know it best and know it
...Now let me tell you why 'askdorianne'

Slightly over two years ago, I was one hell of an excited girl who had just posted her first blog post! I can still remember me reading the same article over and over again before pressing 'Publish'. Same thing with refreshing the article page over and over again once published :) The feedback I received in the few days that followed was incredible; people were actually reading my short posts and also commenting on them - it had turned out even better than I had
...Scaredy-cat act thrice his size

Yesterday I spotted my ex-boyfriend, wearing a blazer thrice his size. Supplements. He was coming from the opposite direction and as I walked past him I found myself going back in time some 10 years.
Quotes which make me laugh, cry or just wonder

Google has been helping me in a number of ways on a personal level, I just have to admit that. For instance, I've never really been any good with cooking but nowadays I google my questions and concerns about whether mashed potato needs milk or just water and ta daa...there lies my reply! When I needed to confirm that orange is, indeed, the new black I just googled this curiosity of mine, and yet again, google had it there for me - "Orange is the new black this
...Of white and capri blue

Yesterday night I mentioned I will be posting an OOTD, with the excitement of it all mostly attributable to this beautiful scarf! I'm one who has always disagreed with those who automatically limit certain accessories (be it hats, scarfs, sunglasses) to certain seasons and who may argue that scarfs are an unnecessary garment during Spring. On the contrary, I find that I'd like to drag such items as much as possible into the Spring/Summer season, just because I
...Wise words

Yesterday I was planning this lengthy lifestyle article for today's post. That's what I do on the eve of each lifestyle blog post; I curl up on the sofa, sip tea and jot down notes and ideas on my notebook. I sometimes refer to my other journal, on which I keep a note of any ideas or inspirations I would have come across and which I consider worth keeping a record of for any future post (especially during those random writer's blocks).

NO!

Mum is a person who, in her constant and genuine bid to try be as warm and amiable as possible, doesn't know how to say NO to people. At times this trait of hers makes me wonder, especially when I see her overwhelmed trying to juggle between the numerous promises she would have made to people or even worse, torn after not living up to all those promises and others' expectations! And these days I'm realising I'm just like her!!...
Lately I've been feeling a bit tired...
And even if I do manage to get my 8 hours of beauty sleep, I still feel drained when I wake up and I need more than just a double espresso and a couple of hours to feel at my best again. I do try to put on some cheerful music and go wash my face over and over again to try feel as fresh as possible, yet my mind still sends lazy signals to the rest of my body and all I can do for the first couple of hours of the day is drag my feet and wish I'm still in bed or
...Pictures that have been inspiring me this past week

One thing I definetely don't afford getting me is a Chanel bag :) Even the smallest, most oldish bag would do, mind you, but seems I won't be going round with a Chanel baby any time soon. So instead I look at pictures and daydream :D
Last week in pictures

It's been a week since I blogged last; been a bit busy - birthday weekend, valentine's day and all! :P I'm usually one to go full blast when it comes to birthday celebrations. This year, however, partying levels were kept to a minimum, for a number of reasons. That said, I still got to enjoy my day and what follows are a couple of snapshots captured during the 'famous' week of my 'turning 29'!! ;)
Birthday post!!

Yesterday I turned 29! Big deal, right?
On our birthday, to indicate that we're getting a year older we use the verb ''turn". "Turned 29"; "turned", just like "turned sour" or "turned grey"! Woww! That was probably what got me into panic mode on the eve of my birthday - I was going to turn 29; just one year to go before my turning 30! Now that's a big, rounded
...Because a girl can never get enough of wine, can she?

..and this without meaning to sound that we should be/become dependent on wine, of course. But this weekend saw me enjoying a nice Gavi di Gavi and a Falanghina; partly because I felt I needed it more than usual (probably due to the fact that my boyfriend will be leaving the rock for some days and, well, you know how it goes) and partly because I felt I could do with a small dose of chilled, yellow-cold vino :)

You see, it's a question of perspective

Sadly for me, it's been a while since I wrote a blog post related to lifestyle (which happen to be my favourite posts), the way I used to do up to a few weeks ago. It could be due to the fact that I've become so engrossed in the world of beauty and beauty products, and to my discovering that "uhhh, a highlighter can do more to your face than just a layer of foundation" and that
...The positives of radiating joy in life
In this ridiculously fast-paced age of conveniently accessible information overloads (through social media outlets, similar online hubs and the likes), it can be quite exhausting to just take a breather and enjoy the beauty of the nature surrounding us. Nowadays, all the potential stresses seem to pop from anywhere and everywhere, be it family issues at home, annoying coworkers or crowded public transportation, just to name a few.
"The day you see I'm getting old, I ask you to please be patient..."
This is a brief I came across this afternoon, a lovely piece which made me cry, probably because it means a lot to me at the moment, more than usual. The original text (in Spanish) and photo by Guillermo Pena, translated to English by Sergio Cadena.

Sunshine Bloggers Award - the tag post!!
This morning, whilst stuck in traffic on my way to work, I found myself making a mental list of the people I'm grateful for meeting during 2013. It's funny how, at times, the people you would have expected to be incompatible with manage to become more than just acquaintances. 2013 was kind to me in this regard and blessed me with some great colleagues, a nice fellow and good
...A couple of inspirational quotes never hurt anyone...

As I mentioned in one of my most recent blog posts, making quality time for and with people that matter is my only resolution for 2014. This got me thinking, especially after having spent the majority of the past few days with family
